School Reopening Update: ASUU Has Finally Given Verdict On School Reopening, Admission And WAEC

It is now 4 months since the Federal Government of Nigeria declared openly that all unity schools in Nigeria should shut down prior to the COVID-19 global pandemic. However, the government has made a lot of efforts to reopen the school, but due to the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in the country, and the dangers it posed to the Nigerian students, school resumption has remained an uncertain topic in NigeriaHowever, Professor Biodun Ogunyemi President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities said in an interview with Sunday PUNCH, that they are in full support of the FG decision to stop the Senior Secondary School 3 pupils from taking this year WAEC examinations. The Union also advised the government to ensure that schools in Nigeria remain shut until 2021, noting that no good government with the safety of her people in mind would allow school reopening amid COVID-19 surge.
